Youngstown Court Records Retention
Under the Ohio Rules of Superintendence, courts must follow specific retention schedules. Criminal felony case files are kept for 50 years. OVI case files are held for 50 years as well. Minor misdemeanor records are kept for five years. Civil case files are retained for two years after the case closes. The docket, index, and journal records are maintained for 25 years. Auditor reports and yearly reports are kept permanently.
These retention rules apply to all Ohio courts, including those serving Youngstown. If you are looking for an older case, it may still be available depending on the type of case and when it was filed.
